Department Summary 

The MAXIMUS Canada Project Management Office (PMO) is a team that delivers business value through project and program delivery. The team is responsible for managing projects from the exploration/pipeline phase through to project stabilization and transition to ongoing operations. The PMO works closely with other key project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to meet their intended business needs while applying best practices, solid project management principles, organizational change management approaches and appropriate standards. 

 

 Position Summary 

Reporting to the Project Director and working as an integral part of the project team, the Project Manager is responsible for leading matrix project teams that may include: operations subject matter experts, business analysts, application developers, and systems engineers.   

In addition, the Project Manager will ensure both software development lifecycle (SDLC) and network infrastructure projects are effectively estimated, well-planned and use project management best practices principles and standards (PMBOK), to deliver quality scoped projects that are delivered on time and within or under budget.

What a typical week looks like

  • Define project scope, objectivesoutcomes and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with management and stakeholders;   
  • Determine project activities, staffing requirements and assign roles and responsibilities;
  • Manage daily details of project including schedule, budget, scope, risks and mitigations, stakeholder change impacts; 
  • Deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget   
  • Facilitate project meetings with clients and team members; 
  • Establish and facilitate effective communications with the client, project team members and all other stakeholders   
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and prepare project management reports such as statements of work, status reports, change requests, issues logs, etc.;   
  • Provide and monitor budgets and report to senior management; and   
  • Manage all resources working on the project. 


What you bring

Knowledge Skills and Abilities  

  • Proven experience in managing technology projects, using structured project management methodologies and organizational change management approaches;  
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and mentor others;   
  • Demonstrated ability to apply skills and techniques to solve problems;  
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;     
  • Excellent client-facing as well as internal verbal and written communication skills   
  • Build and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, understanding what is important to them and how this relates to the project; 
  • Highly logical, technically proficient, and keen attention to detail; and   
  • Sense of urgency with the confidence to handle a variety of challenges. 
Education and Experience 

  • University degree in a related discipline or a suitable combination of education and experience;   
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset, or the equivalent certification or work experience;  
  • Organizational Change Management certification would be an asset; 
  • ITIL certification would be an asset; 
  • Master’s degree would be considered an asset;   
  • 5+ years of demonstrated project management experience;   
  • 3+ years of experience using agile methodologies;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
