Maximus is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist to support the design, development, and delivery of enterprise learning programs. This role is part of the Learning & Development function within Human Resources and plays a key role in building employee skills and strengthening organizational capability.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about creating and delivering engaging learning experiences. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and business partners, develop instructional content that resonates with learners, and maintain realistic learning environments that mirror production tools and workflows. Strong presentation skills, instructional design expertise, communication, time management, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

This role requires the ability to create an engaging learning environment for employees across roles and levels. Experience in Corporate Learning & Development, or exposure to corporate learning environments and understanding of organizational learning practices, is highly desired.

This is a remote position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Design and develop e-learning and blended learning content and ensure future accessibility of training materials.

- Monitor content for consistency, accuracy, clarity, ease-of-navigation and evolving best practices for user experience and interface.

- Design and develop ongoing training materials for system enhancements, releases, initiatives, and workflows.

- Consult with internal stakeholders to identify new requirements and strategies.

- Capture and diagram workflow processes.

- Adjust throughout the project to ensure the successful attainment of the learning and training objectives.

- Manage the development and refinement of data tracking processes.

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 3+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3+ years of progressive instructional design experience, including e-learning and blended learning content development.
- Proficiency with Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) and Canva for visual design.
- Experience writing storyboards and scripts for learning content.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging and effective presentations for diverse audiences.
- Exposure to corporate learning environments and understanding of organizational learning practice, preferred.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to gather content and ensure alignment with learning objectives.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Applied understanding of multiple learning modalities, including instructor-led training (ILT), virtual ILT, online learning, and learning partnerships.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with peers and stakeholders to support project success.
- Experience assisting with skills gap analyses and needs assessments in collaboration with HR and business stakeholders.
- Ability to translate skills requirements into clear learning objectives and instructional materials.
- Familiarity with prioritizing learning initiatives based on business needs, skills data, and organizational objectives.
- Experience maintaining and updating learning environments and systems to ensure compatibility with production tools and workflows.
- Interest or experience in facilitating knowledge-sharing activities and contributing to communities of practice for AI and technical learning.
- Exposure to innovative instructional approaches, such as adaptive learning techniques, AI-supported simulations, and sandbox environments to enhance learner engagement and accelerate skills development.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
