Description & Requirements

Maximus is seeking an Analyst - Info Sec to join our team. This is a remote position that will support the Background Investigations Team and all programs within the Department of Education portfolio.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Work with all stakeholders to identify the workaround or resolution for the incident. 
- Set expectations of all stakeholders about the timelines and permissions required for the resolution.
- Send periodic updates to the stakeholders until the incident has been resolved.
- Work independently to ensure that planned solutions based on customer requirements are secured in accordance with policies.
- Work independently to provide security consulting services to other engineers and customers.
- Review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs.

Additional Essential Duties:

  • Experience completing/facilitating SF86 clearance paperwork.
  • Experience administering and using the NBIS and eApp clearance workflow system.
  • Experience maintaining detailed records/spreadsheets necessary to track and ensure progress through the federal clearance request process.
  • Experience in accepting and processing system access requests and ensuring that all requisite documents have been completed.
  • Hands on experience reconciling system account lists against personnel rosters/spreadsheets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage and ensure that a high-volume of clearance requests proceed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to troubleshoot clearance content rejections.
  • Ability to effectively communicate SF86 content requirements to applicants, and to assist them for successful and timely completion of clearance request submissions.
  • Ability to readily discern irregularities in system account lists, account requests, or tracking spreadsheets
  • Highly detailed orientation including timely follow up

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate new or transferred employee’s completion of background investigation process.
  • Maintain records necessary to track and ensure progress through the federal clearance request process.

Minimum Requirements


- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of related work experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Builds productive internal/external working relationships.

Additional Requirements as per contract/client:

 - FSA, Department of Education experience
 - High School Diploma or GED required
 - Must reside in the U.S.
 - Must be a U.S. citizen.
 - Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
 - Must not be delinquent or in default on any federal student loans.
 - Employment and continued employment are contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a favorable clearance. Final suitability determination is the sole discretion of the Department of Education.
 - Obtaining and Maintaining a PIV-I card is a requirement of this position. PIV-I cards must be picked up in person. New and existing employees may need to travel via car, train, or plane to a designated location to pick up their new or replacement PIV-I card. Any travel expenses will be paid for by Maximus.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. An applicant's salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus will comply with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds in all instances.
