Description & Requirements

Maximus is looking for a research assistant/business analyst to support a congressionally mandated study for assessing nuclear energy capabilities, trade-offs, innovations, and supply chain risks. The successful candidate will assist the research manager in tracking the project's progress as well as compiling and evaluating research data. This role involves coordinating with a diverse team of experts, managing resources efficiently, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.

This role requires a proactive individual capable of engaging with a range of stakeholders to support a critical research project that will inform future policy decisions on electrical power infrastructure and availability. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking to contribute to the study's success. This role also requires a detail-oriented approach for producing high quality analyses suitable for submission to senior government leaders and Congress.

Responsibilities:

The research assistant will be responsible for assisting the research manager in coordinating and general oversight of the research project including data collection, data analysis, and ensuring the timely delivery of findings. The successful candidate will participate in drafting proposals, selecting methods, and presenting findings.

This includes:
• Collaborating with research teams to assist in defining the scope and objectives of the study
• Compiling and organizing data responses from various agencies, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Analyzing collected data to identify trends, insights, and key findings related to electrical power availability
• Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations that communicate research findings to stakeholders
• Coordinating with government and industry partners to facilitate information exchange and support study objectives
• Consolidating results from literature reviews
• Attending project meetings
• Writing reports to summarize progress, findings, and the implications of the results
• Preparing questions for data calls and collecting data
• Conducting analysis of data
• Maintaining quality standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings

Required Skills:

• Due to Federal requirements candidates must possess an acitve TS/SCI with CI Poly
• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in data management and analysis software
• Excellent communication and report writing skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• Excellent skills in teamwork and data analysis, enabling them to effectively lead teams, present findings, collaborate on project planning and execution, and analyze and interpret data
• Proven work experience as a research assistant, business analyst, or similar role
• Excellent administrative skills
• Knowledge of research methods
• Ability to work under pressure
• Excellent time management skills
• Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of complex research findings

Minimum Requirements
TCS159, P3, Band 6
Desired Skills:

• Strong understanding of electrical power systems and related regulatory issues
• A degree in the field related to the study
• Familiarity with federal nuclear energy regulations and compliance requirements

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. An applicant's salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus will comply with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds in all instances.
