Description & Requirements

Maximus is seeking an experienced Release Manager to join our team! The Software Release Manager ensures smooth and timely delivery of high-quality software releases. This role involves overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of software deployment processes while adhering to best practices in release management and version control. The Software Release Manager will act as the primary point of contact for release schedules, ensuring cross-functional alignment and seamless communication.


This position is contingent upon award. This position is remote, but may require occasional travel to the San Antonio, TX or Baltimore, MD area as requested by the client.

Job-Specific Minimum Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise in release management processes and tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and iterate upon release strategies, workflows, and documentation to optimize the deployment pipeline.
  • Collaborate with development, quality assurance, operations, and product teams to plan and execute releases.
  • Analyze and mitigate risks related to release deployments, ensuring a robust fallback plan is in place.
  • Monitor release metrics, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve the release process. 
  • Produce high-quality release communication materials, including schedules, impact analyses, and post-release reports. 
  • Lead post-implementation reviews to gather feedback and refine future releases.

Job-Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of recent and relevant experience in software release management. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field may substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • TS/SCI clearance required.
  • Proven expertise in release management tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and CI/CD practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects across multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and project management

Job-Specific Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructures and DevOps principles.
  • Certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or ITIL Foundations are a plus.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
