Description & Requirements

We are looking for an experienced GIS engineer to support a web-based geospatial application portfolio, associated tools, and cutting-edge data and analytics platform for a Federal critical infrastructure agency. You will create GIS analytical and processing functions to enable environmental analyses of multi-source data objects. Researches, evaluates, and evolves geospatial technologies to meet agency requirements and ensure scalable and elastic solutions.


Major responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates with, engineers, planners and other professional staff to develop GIS analytical and geoprocessing functions, including input, editing, manipulation, management, analysis, and output of spatial and tabular data sets.
  • Develops, and manages geospatial data sets using a variety of methods including Global Positioning Systems to collect and display natural resource, infrastructure, and other data for scientific, engineering, and planning applications.
  • Prepares written reports, digital metadata to describe application procedures, data
  • requirements, and software functions.
  • Experienced with ESRI tools including ArcGIS and GeoPlatform

Minimum Requirements (required skills that align with contract LCAT, verifiable, and measurable):

Minimum Education requirement: 
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance Required
  • University degree (BS) in a closely related field (geography, computer science, surveying, engineering)
  • 7+ years demonstrated experience as a GIS Engineer
  • Required Certifications: ArcGIS Pro Professional


Preferred Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with EPA Program offices, development methodologies, and product lifecycles

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
