The Technical Writer / Action Officer creates, tracks, manages, and reports on documentation in a timely manner. This includes creating documents for the client and managing them through the approval process as well as reviewing, editing and facilitating document approval for other authors in the program. This position is also responsible for developing, publishing, managing, and closing out meeting minutes at the program governance level. The Technical Writer / Action Officer must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Technical Writing. In addition, the role will perform research, writing and editing to established government standards.
This job is on-site, five days a week and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.
Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the administrative point of contact for documents and document approval
- Receive, disseminate, coordinate, and track to completion all incoming tasks
- Coordinate special events, meetings, conferences, and work groups
- Provide correspondence staffing support and oversight for all required correspondence actions (e.g., formal letters, memoranda, read-ahead briefing and meeting packages, activity reports, and senior leadership reports)
- Perform technical writing and editing, editorial consultation, proofreading, and overall documentation review
- Develop documentation that meets organizational standards including project plans, directives, charters, appointment letters, white papers, SOPs, and governance documents
- Prepare and assist in the development of briefings and multimedia presentations
- Prepare, maintain, and update informational packages
- Action Officer for governance boards to include meeting facilitation, note taking, action item follow-ups, publication of notes and meeting minutes
- Organize, curate, and maintain the electronic document repository as directed
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI Security Clearance required
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of work experience related to the field
- Experience working with software engineering teams to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
- Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences
- Must have strong understanding of DoD correspondence styles, uses, and formats
